AI-Powered Editing

Beyond generating reports, the AI assistant can help you edit, refine, and improve your content. Use conversational commands to make changes without manual editing.

How AI Editing Works

Instead of editing text directly, describe what changes you want. The AI interprets your request and modifies the content accordingly. Traditional editing:
  1. Select text
  2. Delete or modify manually
  3. Retype content
  4. Review changes
AI-powered editing:
  1. Describe the change you want
  2. AI makes the modification
  3. Review and approve

Types of Edits

Content Refinement

Improve the quality of existing text:
  • “Make this section more concise”
  • “Add more detail to the financial analysis”
  • “Improve the flow between paragraphs”

Tone Adjustments

Change how content reads:
  • “Make this more formal for a board presentation”
  • “Simplify the language for a general audience”
  • “Add a more optimistic tone to the outlook section”

Structural Changes

Modify how content is organized:
  • “Split this long paragraph into bullet points”
  • “Add subheadings to break up this section”
  • “Combine these two paragraphs into one”

Factual Updates

Correct or update information:
  • “The CEO name should be Jane Smith, not John Smith”
  • “Update the revenue figure to $150 billion”
  • “Add 2025 data to this comparison”

Additions

Request new content:
  • “Add a section about ESG initiatives”
  • “Include a comparison table of competitors”
  • “Add an executive summary at the beginning”

Making Edit Requests

1

Navigate to the Report

Open the report you want to edit in the main content area.
2

Use the Chat Panel

With the report open, use the chat panel to request changes.
3

Describe Your Edit

Be specific about what you want changed:
  • Which section or content
  • What kind of change
  • Any specific requirements
4

Review the Result

The AI will apply changes. Review the modified content and make additional requests if needed.

Effective Edit Prompts

Be Specific

VagueSpecific
”Fix the intro""Make the executive summary shorter and highlight the key recommendation"
"Make it better""Improve the competitive analysis by adding market share data"
"Change the tone""Rewrite the risk section to be more balanced, not just negative”

Reference Sections Clearly

When a report has multiple sections, identify which one you mean:
  • “In the Financial Performance section, add quarterly breakdowns”
  • “The third paragraph of the conclusion needs more supporting evidence”
  • “Revise the table in the Competitive Analysis section”

Provide Context

Help the AI understand your goals:
  • “This report is for investors, so emphasize the growth opportunity”
  • “Our client is risk-averse, so highlight the stability factors”
  • “The audience isn’t technical, so simplify the AI discussion”

Examples of Edit Requests

Shortening Content

Request: “Reduce the executive summary to three sentences maximum while keeping the key insights” Result: AI condenses the content, preserving essential points.

Expanding Content

Request: “Add more detail to the market opportunity section, including specific market size figures” Result: AI expands the section with additional analysis.

Changing Format

Request: “Convert the list of risk factors into a table with columns for risk type, impact, and likelihood” Result: AI restructures content into the requested table format.

Correcting Information

Request: “The report says revenue was 50Bbutitshouldbe50B but it should be 52.3B according to the latest filing” Result: AI updates the figure throughout the relevant sections.

Improving Clarity

Request: “The third paragraph in the Business Model section is confusing. Rewrite it more clearly” Result: AI rewrites the paragraph for better clarity.

Iterative Editing

AI editing works best as a conversation:
  1. First request: “Improve the conclusion”
  2. Review result: AI makes changes
  3. Follow-up: “Good, but also add a call to action”
  4. Review again: AI adds the requested element
  5. Final adjustment: “Make the call to action more direct”
Don’t try to make all changes in one request. Iterative refinement often produces better results.

When to Use AI vs. Manual Editing

Use AI Editing For

  • Large-scale tone or style changes
  • Restructuring content
  • Adding new analysis
  • Consistency improvements across sections
  • Generating new paragraphs

Use Manual Editing For

  • Small text corrections (typos, minor word changes)
  • Precise formatting
  • Adding specific data you know
  • Final polish adjustments
  • Personal touches

Combining AI and Manual Editing

For best results, combine both approaches:
  1. Use AI for substantial changes
  2. Review AI output
  3. Make small manual adjustments
  4. Use AI for additional refinements
  5. Final manual review

Troubleshooting

Be more specific in your request. Include examples of what you’re looking for. Try breaking complex changes into smaller steps.
Request more targeted changes: “Only change the first paragraph” or “Keep everything except the conclusion.”
Ask the AI to review and improve transitions: “The section transitions feel abrupt now. Improve the flow between sections.”
Rephrase using simpler language. Be explicit about the current state and desired outcome. Provide an example if possible.

Best Practices

Track Your Changes

  • Note what edits you’ve requested
  • Review the full document after major changes
  • Ensure consistency across all sections

Verify Accuracy

  • Double-check any facts or figures after edits
  • Ensure citations still match content
  • Review for unintended changes

Maintain Your Voice

  • Guide the AI on tone and style
  • Make final adjustments manually
  • Ensure the output sounds like your work
